Course Description

  • This course, open to sophomores only, is a broad survey of classical and modern molecular biology, biotechnology, and biochemistry, and is the first semester of a year-long sequence. In the first semester we will focus on nucleic acids, and in the second semester we will focus on proteins and sugars. We will read and discuss numerous classic and current academic journal articles, watch scientific talks, and perform various laboratory activities as well as write formal laboratory reports. This course also aims to prepare students for research in a college or university setting.This course is open ONLY to sophomores.
